Is this the answer?
How to know if eyelid surgery is right for you.
Patients can expect a long-lasting improvement in eyelid appearance and, in many cases, enhanced vision if sagging skin was obstructing sight. The results are subtle, natural, and designed to complement your facial features while maintaining normal eyelid function.
Blepharoplasty is ideal for patients who:
- Have drooping or sagging upper eyelids obstructing vision.
- Have puffiness or fat deposits above the eyes.
- Wish to achieve a refreshed, youthful appearance.
- Are in good general health and have realistic expectations.
What is Blepharoplasty?
A subtle refresh for brighter, younger-looking eyes.
Blepharoplasty is a targeted surgical treatment for the eyelids, designed to support both visual function and appearance. By carefully removing excess skin, it can relieve obstruction in the upper field of vision and create a lighter, more open eye area. Patients often seek this procedure to address age-related drooping that can leave the eyes looking heavy or fatigued.
Why should I have Blepharoplasty?
The biggest benefits of eyelid surgery.
Feel more confident.
By softly rejuvenating the eyes, blepharoplasty can help patients feel more confident and comfortable in their appearance.
Improve eyelid definition.
The procedure can gently tighten and refine the eyelid area, creating a fresher appearance and, in some cases, supporting clearer vision.
Fresher, youthful look.
By smoothing fine lines and reducing excess skin, the procedure can create a more youthful appearance while preserving natural features.
Smooth the under-eye area.
By addressing under-eye bags, lower eyelid surgery can help the eyes appear brighter and more refreshed.
Improve eye symmetry.
Blepharoplasty achieves a more balanced appearance, by improving differences caused by ageing or earlier treatment.
More open, alert eyes.
By reducing excess eyelid skin, blepharoplasty can help the eyes appear brighter, more awake, and less tired.

Common questions
We’ve put together some helpful information before you book your consultation.
Is blepharoplasty suitable for both men and women?
Yes. Blepharoplasty is commonly performed on both men and women who are
concerned about drooping eyelids, under-eye bags, or a tired eye appearance.
Will blepharoplasty leave visible scars?
Scarring is minimal with upper blepharoplasty. Incisions are carefully placed within the natural crease of your upper eyelid, making any scars virtually invisible once healed. Over time, these fine lines fade and blend seamlessly with your natural eyelid contours.
How long does recovery usually take?
Everyone recovers differently and the team here at Cathedral Dermatology will remain with you every step of the way, ensuring the best outcomes for your health and confidence.
Most patients experience swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks following upper blepharoplasty. You can typically return to light activities within 7-10 days, though we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 2-3 weeks.
Is the procedure performed under local or general anaesthetic?
Your surgeon will discuss this with you during your consultation.
How long do the results last?
The results of upper blepharoplasty are long-lasting; the procedure permanently removes excess skin from your upper eyelids and creates a more refreshed appearance.
However, natural aging continues after surgery. Over time, your eyebrows may gradually descend. This doesn’t mean the excess eyelid skin has returned, it’s the result of normal brow positioning changes as we age.
During your consultation, we’ll assess your individual anatomy and discuss realistic expectations to ensure you’re fully informed before proceeding with surgery.
Will blepharoplasty improve my vision?
If drooping upper eyelids are obstructing your field of vision, upper blepharoplasty
may improve your sight. During your consultation, we’ll assess whether your eyelid position is affecting your vision and discuss the functional benefits you can expect.
